UPMan - A new BCD396T problem has come up for me...
Recently I have been having problems with my BCD396T...
1.) The police talkgroups for the Lewisville, TX police department will not come up when scanning. I can navigate through my TG list to the PD dispatch and hear them talk but I cannot hear them when scanning. They are not locked out, I am using CC only scan, no new control channels are active, and I have checked my fleet map and it is good.
2.) The Roanoke and Trophy Club fire departments are toned out on the 800MHz system on their own channels. I can hear all of their operational traffic but not their tone out and dispatch. I have confirmed through others that they are still using the channels for dispatch but for a few months I have not been able to hear them. I again have checked my frequencies, talkgroup lockouts, and am using CC only scan.
The trunked systems in question are the Lewisville TRS (problem #1) and the Denton County TRS (problem #2).
Anyone have any suggesstions? UPMan????

also, I have updated to the latest firmware and reprogrammed the scanner from the software...the problem was there before and after the firmware upgrade and reprogram of the scanner...

Brandon,
I don't listen to the Lewisville system much but I just checked and am not having a problem hearing Lewisville PD. Send me your .usd or .mem file and I will compare it to mine.
I can't offer much help on the Denton system. I cannot consistantly hear it here in Hurst but if you want to send that file I will look at it too.

Can you hear other Mot Type II systems?

I'd have to echo the "post your .usd" comment. All I can say is that what I have programmed for Lewisville seems to be working for me...haven't got Denton set up at the moment, though.
You might also try asking on the [dfwscan] Yahoo Group to see if anyone has noticed a change in TGID assignments.

I've been having the same problem here in Virginia. For the last few weeks, my BCD396T will not stop on any Loudoun County trunked freqs. It will stop on the Fairfax County system, however, which is the same type (and farther away).
Uniden tech support recommended reprogramming the system and installing firmware version 1.10.01. I did both and still no joy. Their last message was to send the scanner in for service. Before I do that, however, I'm open to other suggestions.

thanks to Linn the problem was found...it had to do with the fact that the PD groups themselves were locked out and I didn't know it. The individual talkgroups were not locked out but I forgot about the "group lockout" feature on the 396T...so that was the issue. I felt dumb afterward...
It still doesn't help with the tone out and dispatch problems on the Roanoke and Trophy Club talkgroups. I have a BC895XLT set up on the Denton County system now to see if it is a problem with the 396 or something else. I hear all traffic but the tone out and dispatch. I'll let you know what I find...just waiting for the tone-out.

If you are talking about the delay between the tone out and the audio, then change the standby delay for the tone out setting for >5 seconds. to maybe infinity, then you can press Hold to return to standby.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have more than one group affected, but checked the lockout anyway. All were already unlocked so that's not the issue here.
