Default BC796d Audio problem

I have a BC796d and love it. Recently it has been acting up. The audio on it tends to go high for long periods of time for no reason at all. The knob for the volume control does not work when my scanner decides to go full blast! I have to turn off and on the scanner a couple times to fix the problem or just wait it out. I have reset my scanner and all and it has not fixed the problem. I have version 3.28 as of right now. Anyone have any options? Thanks alot!!

I had the opposite problem. My 796's audio would go very quiet and I could barely hear it even with the volume turned up all the way.
I fixed my problem by adjusting a rheostat by the antenna on the top of the circuit board. It has not "acted up" since I adjusted it. If you try this you need to be listening to a constant transmision. I used the NOAA radio while doing this.
Hope this helps you

If its a digital audio problem there is a menu that pops up with tuanable adjustment. Check the manual.

I remember people having a problem like that. The POT (Volume Control) would lose ground or had a bad ground and it would cause the scanner to go full volume. Pulling and reseating the plug on the board leading to the volume control would fix the problem.
