Default Hey Upman, 796d 3.29 download

Hello, I tried to download the 3.29 update from the website but a message says it doesn't know what program to use to open the update, never had this problem before, can you help? will this download help to grab the signal a little better so I don't get that annoying warble noise just before the audio becomes readable? thanks in advance, scannerdweeb.

These downloads are zip files. You have to have an unzip program on your computer to open it. This is a common archive format and is not a Uniden problem.

I did unzip the folder and read the install instructions but it said unable to open because windows does not know what program created file, then it tried to search online for the creator and unable to find. sd.

1. Unzip the files to a temporary directory.
2. Run "Setup.exe" from that directory.
3. After install, click on the BC_VUP icon on your desktop to run the update.

ok, I performed steps above, but when I hit the bearclaw there is nothing there to run, it is empty, also when holding the l/o and 6 buttons when plugging in the a/c power nothing shows on the radio that I am in any other mode for programming, it stays in scan mode.

I have downloaded to this radio before with no problems. ?????? sd

OK, I finally got the firmware loaded, don't ask what I did different, but it loaded succesfully. Now I noticed if I try to enter a freq by entering the digits directly and hitting enter, I get a message saying "enter lock" however the enter lock fuction in the menu is in the "off" position. the frequency can be entered ok going through the menu system. Don't know if during the power up and key holding for setup before downloading I pushed a wrong button, Is there some kind of reset procedure to perform. Scanner seems to be operating ok otherwise. thanks, Scannerdweeb.

You are correct. Thank you for the expertise, where did you get the info though? I've never noticed that before. Thank you again, I should be set for awhile, maybe I can answer some questions for you someday. Scannerdweeb
