Default BC 796D Question

Hello all
I have a BC 796D and live in Bloomington IL. I have my scanner programmed for the Starcom frequencies, but am having trouble getting Normal PD and Fire, and Mclean Co SD to come in clear. I have it set for NFM P25 card but it keeps scanning the DAT and when that happens I get gaps in communication. Can anyone help me?

Tim

What are you using for an antenna? How far are you from the systems you're trying to monitor? Are any of the systems you mentioned designated as a simulcast sub system?

Right now I am using a makeshift antenna, but I am in Bloomington close to the tower. I guess the thing I need to know if how to make the mode stay on P25 without going through the whole gambit of different modes.

Are you certain that you programmed the proper frequency for the control channel, and do you have the scanner configured for control channel only? Is it an 800MHz system?

I was just looking in the RR Database. That system is a little different than the P25 setup here in Michigan. You might want to post in the Illinois forum for someone more familiar with that particular location, and the system operating there.

I just looked at the system: http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=2324 and there have been a lot of Talk Group Updates in your area in the last 24 hours. Have you looked at those?

According to this thread, the system is not fully operational yet: http://www.radioreference.com/forums...006#post448006
