Default Motorola 900 MHz systems & I Call

Anyone listen to 900 MHz Motorola systems that use I Calls? I have several different scanners (BC780,396,996) and I notice that the newer models,396 and 996 do not show as much info when receiving I calls as the BC 780 does. This "problem" is only with Motorola 900 MHz systems, not 800 MHz systems. When receiving an I Call with the 780, the display will show the ID's of the two units speaking to each other...it will alternately flash the ID's of both units. This is a very nice feature as you can see exactly who is involved in the I Call. On all the rest of the Uniden scanners, at least the 396,996 and 246, only one ID is displayed. It will actually be the ID of the first unit that keys up their mic. I've asked Uniden about this and get lame answers such as "We don't have any 900 MHz systems around here to test this out" to a canned response of "that's how the radio is designed". It just seems odd that they would have the newer radios do less than the older ones. Anyone that listens to 900 MHz systems notice this too? As I said in the beginning, 800 MHz systems work just fine...both ID's appear, although they are on the same line next to each other as opposed to flashing one then the other. Comments?

Bob

Can you associate a text tag with an I-Call number?

Never mind, I looked it up in the manual and found the answer to my question.

Ok, I can state the following.....

Using a 246T, I was able to track an I-call (actually a phonepatch) on the 900mhz system, and my radio ID popped up on the display. I've never been able to confirm that my company has radio to radio I-calls turned on, as it's not a feature I need (I am on a 900 simplex freq anyway).

I know that it shows both radio IDs when on a busy 800mhz system, so I can't see why it would not on 900. As for the 396/996, sorry, thay are too rich for my blood

I have seen that, but If the system is not too busy, I noticed if you hit scan while they are still talking you will see the other LID #. Of course if it is real busy you probably won't find it in time. You are right about it not alternating like the 780.

That's what the quote buttons are for.

And are you aware that this is an old thread you're reviving?
