Hey all,
I am a BC246T owner and also a software developer. I have written
a few free Perl programs for the BC246T that are currently in the
testing phase. They run on both Windows and Linux (even run on
the Sharp Zaurus PDA). Since Mac OSX is a Unix derivative, I
*assume* they will run on Mac OSX also.
Here are programs I've written so far:
1) BC246T System Programmer: Programs the radio one system at
a time or multiple systems at a time (your choice, uses an
XML based text file for setting up systems).
2) BC246T System Remover: Removes one system at a time from
the radio or removes all systems at once from the
radio (your choice).
3) BC246T Close Call Extender: Automatically "Hit a key" / "Hit E"
on close call hits (works in both CC search & CC only modes) and
logs the frequencies w/ tones to a text file for later review.
4) BC246T Battery Checker: Simple little program to check the
battery life remaining (estimate percentage shown).
To run them you will need to install Perl (if you don't already
have it installed), install a Perl module or two, and edit the
program (to set up variables/settings). You will also want to
edit the XML file to set up your own systems for transfer
to the radio.
If you are comfortable with the above (or feel you can pick it
up easily...once you install Perl it's mostly just editing text
files) PM me here at RR with your email address and I will send
you the programs (they are small, less them 10k a piece).
The only thing I ask is that you give me some feedback and
let me know if/how you got them working *especially* if you
are on OSX.
As far as I know, this is the first software released for the BC246T
that allows you to do things one system at a time and at the same time
the first software to run on both Windows and Linux natively (possibly
even OSX), and it's all free to boot. I have some exciting programs for
the 296/250 family that I will also be giving away as soon as I put the
finishing touches on them.
I'll be happy to answer any questions, Enjoy everyone.
