Default Any universal AC Adapter for the 996T?

Anybody know of a universal AC Adapter for the 996T? I think the unit is 13.8volt??? and I cant find a universal AC adapter with that voltage.

I want to plug the universal AC adapter into another room so I can just plug in the back of the unit without carrying the original AC adapter around as well.

I use to be okay as I used the AC adapter from my other 996T I had in the car in another room.. but I sold that unit/Ac adapter so Im back to only 1 AC Adapter. IF no universal option I'll just have to order another AC adapter.

Thanks

What you need is an AC adapter that puts out 12VDC. The scanner specifies 13.8V because that is about what a car's voltage runs at with the engine running. If you read the AC adapter you currently have, It probably says 12VDC. If you were to measure the volatge it puts out, it is probably closer to 13V. I believe the scanner will run on as little as 10.5 or 11V.

Go to your local Radio Shack & purchase catalog # 22-501. It's the deal that plungs into your a/c wall socket & accepts the cigar shaped d/c power supply.Just like the one in your car. It's rated @ 13.5v DC but as another posted 12v will work.Amp's is more important.

Radio Shack also has a number of AC adapters that will probably work.Just make sure you set the TIP correctly (+/-).
