I've used a similar DC set up on my BC235/245 since day one with no ill effects on the car or radio. It keeps the radio off batteries while in the car and extended the play time to all weekend. It even charged the battery pack. Now with the 246T, the Radio Shack Adaptaplug is different than the 235/245. Does anyone know what the difference would be. I think the 235/245 is the Orange or Yellow one. The center pin on the 246T is much fatter. AND, the voltage on the 245 set up was 12VDC on the pin, not 6VDC, the radio had an internal regulator. SO, is there a voltage regulator circuit in the 246T that will handle the drop, or do we really need to have a 6VDC regulated PowerPlug with the correct Adaptapug?
