Default BCD996T vs GRE PSR 600

Ok I have the BCD996T and I am not happy with the digital end of this scanner. So I am in the market again for another Digital scanner. Now can anyone tell me if they have the GRE PSR 600 and what there take is one it? Or any information on the GRE PSR 600 would be GREAT cuz I do not want to go through the big DISAPPOINTMENT I have towards Uniden and the BCD996T. They have not ADDRESS the digital end or come up with any solutions to end the motor boating. Any INFORMATION would be a big help on the GRE PSR 600 .

The PSR-600 hasn't been released yet.

The best made to date Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I have owned my psr 600 for over a month now and it's a very impressive unit.I have owned all of the latest digital scanners including the 996t from uniden.Let me first say nothing on the market today can compare with this scanner..Okay now as for performance 25-50 mhz this scanner is very sensitive although it's not used much anymore the scanner perform's very well.On vhf from 108-174 mhz probably the most sensitive scanner i have ever seen and i have seen my share,This does have it's drawback's as it does overload easy but the attenuator works great and solves this without a hitch even with it activated it still out perform's all others that i have seen. And on uhf air it does very well..406-512 exellent same as vhf just can't be beat the digital decode is the best never heard the machine gunning that all others suffer from, it decodes fast and great audio .There is nothing out there that will beat this unit at 800mhz if you can't hear it it's not there plain and simple.GRE customer support is by far the best..This thing trunk's like a bloodhound with the newest firmware installed it really gets with the program. If your looking to buy a digital scanner the buck stop's here..I have compared all the new digital's side by side and this one blow's the other's out of the water

Although a great radio ive had the 996 and PSR600 side by side and the 996 picked up my provincial p25 trunked digital police and the 600 kept on scanning. Although the provincial police are in the 140mhz area not the 800mhz.

Please read the GRE scanners forum.. the 600 still motorboats at times and i have heard this many times myself. I think I heard the 600 also doesnt ignore encrypted coms so you hear them all (I maybe wrong) So if you think buying the 600 will end the motorboating your wrong.

But if you wanted you can sell the 996 it has kept its value really well and can still sell for high $400's or even $500 and buy the 600 brand new for $500

Before you buy a GRE 600, I would wait for the firmware release. I received an email from Uniden about the 996T firmware release. In the announcement it stated :

"Much less BRAAAAP! Digital noise is virtually eliminated on the BCD996T and greatly reduced on the BCD396T. Why the difference? The architecture of the BCD996T (especially the digital/analog/both option for channels) lets us do some things that we can’t quite fit into the BCD396T. But testers on both models report that their ears are much, much happier, now."

I would wait and see how effective the "fix" is on BRAAAP.

On a 9600 baud P25 system, the 996T ignores encryption and continues to scan. The GRE scanners do not....and all you hear is the digital waterfall noise.

Oh it is a 9600 bps system, not 9600 baud. The system uses 9600 bits per second, however, it is sent at a baud rate of 4800.
