I got my serial-USB cable on eBay. It's a silver/aqua colour one that is a "HL-340". I installed the drivers from the supplied disc and it works fine! Great product for about $5.00!

Thank you

You get the driver for the cable from the company that made the cable, not from Uniden.

Why not the driver from Uniden? It works just fine with this cable and adapter.

Don't laugh but I've been trying for 3 hours to get a darn driver to install on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I've tried 3 different drivers so far and all was suppose to work on Vista 64 but I guess my computer didn't know that. The drivers from prolific and Moschip (unistalled each and rebooted before installing the other) after installation windows now says " This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name."
Any ideas? I'm almost at whits end and I'm out of beer!!!
The device is being seen by windows and even shows as a prolific USB controller (port 9 the port number seems to change after every uninstall and reinstall of the driver)
I would try the Uniden driver but I cannot even locate it on their webpage. The direct link that was posted here a while back just sends me to my login page and when I log in still cannot locate a driver for it. thanks

Thanks for the info. I don't think its defective as its being detected just seems to be a driver problem or better yet a vista problem (stricter guidelines) Going to try a few other things and even going to install xp on a virtual drive and make sure the cable is good. Now one thing I didn't mention is that if I install the driver from the included cd it give a driver corrupt or missing files error.

If the cable does use the PL-2303 Prolific chip, then the drivers on Uniden's site will work. However, it is difficult for a general user to know what chip was used in the cable...so the advice stands as "Get the driver from the original vendor."
Country: If your cable uses the PL-2303, then the Vista 64 drivers on Uniden's site should work (they did for me...both using the USB-1 and "iConcepts" cable that also used the PL-2303).

Thanks UPMan for the advice.Since its being detected as Prolific usb to serial device almost positive its the pl2303 chipset. Was going to run the serial number on it but...errr there is none. Well going to install my image backup in case with all the drivers I tried maybe something didn't uninstall completely then I'll take it from there and last step will be running xp as a virtual....

All working now. Don't know if was that a driver hadn't fully uninstalled or what but after I installed a clean image and used another driver it works now!

I am bringing this one back from the dead. Purchased one last Thursday so I could program with my laptop, received it today, and it works great. Installed my drivers and everything is all set.
Certainly worth the $10.00 I spent (Item + Shipping) and would recommend to others who need it.

Easiest place to get that is from the page on ScannerMaster's website for the USB-1 cable.
You'll see download links on that page underneath the cable.

Great Information! I just bought the BR330T, and ordered this cable. Saved over $20. Brilliant!
