I was pleasantly surprised to see the yellow piece of paper notifying me that the battery was not going to meet expectations and that Uniden is on top of it. KUDOS again to Paul and the SDS100 team!

Great move! Registered my SDS100 yesterday when I got it from HRO. Looking forward to the new battery and door!
When I opened my SDS100 I had a small issue too, the nob at the top would not rotate, it got banged up in shipping or something. I needed to force/bend it slightly back into shape now it rotates normally.

While the battery situation is not ideal from the inception, an indication of “something not right with Uniden” would be ignoring it and not doing anything to address it.

Instead they are doing the right thing and going back to correct an issue they identified once the units went to production. This is no minor response. Not only are they providing replacement batteries, they are making modifications to the battery cover housing.

There are definitely other examples of quality issues. I can say that, being someone who worked for many manufacturers over the years, this is not one of them.

I heard the bigger battery will have a battery cover that is not flush with scanner and has a noticeable lip.

Along with the new extended battery coming out this month, I would like the opportunity to purchase a second original thin battery for my SDS100. I like the idea of having the option to accessorize my scanner with the thin or extended battery based on how I will use my scanner that day. Some days I might just need the scanner for a few hours or carry in my pocket and some days I will need two extended batteries to get the job done. Two thin batteries and two extended batteries with an external charger would be my preferred power package for the SDS100.

Neat!! Wonder when they'll start the roll out campaign to existing users. Do you have any pictures with it attached to the radio?

I plug my scanner in every night after i use it that day, so its fully charged for the next day, and it has gone dead on me a few times, and the cables i have in the car neve work, always get low voltage error, so i can never listen to it anymore till i recharge it at home. Look forward to getting the new battery and door, sure would be nice to have it designed for a drop in charger rather than plugging it in, just an idea

Tx, you can plug in to charge and plug into upper USB to run simultaneously sir. Because I run with an external GPS so its best for me running two inputs!
