Would someone take a look at Okmulgee Co Oklahoma and tell me the best way to program this mess?! Can I make the DMR into one, big trunked system with all the freqs entered and all the talkgroups, CC’s and Slots or do I just create a multitude of One Frequency Trunked systems for the county and all its municipalities?

It should just be all conventional dmr. If you have an x36 it should program everything right.

The problem is that most of the freqs use both Slots and some even have multiple TG’s on the same freq and slots so then the only way to be sure your hearing what you have displayed is to program TG and slot to a given channel.

I’ve gone through and found 20 frequencies, of which 15 use both slots and about 5 use the same freq and slot and have a different TG.

It would be much easier if you could program a slot, if necessary, in a conventional system. Then you’d still just have the TG issue. I think, at least in Oklahoma, Okmulgee County is the only one with this extensive, (and efficient!) use of DMR.

Somewhere monitoring the air.
I see what you mean about the slot 1 and 2 channels maybe upman or someone can chime in and advise. There really should be an option for dmr conventional channel to program slot # as you do color code.

Yeah.. I tried to figure out Okmulgee and decided I'd focus on other things closer. They have a large IPSC or equivalent system.

I brought up the desire for a slot option and basically was told to shut up and color! Program it as a OFT! I really don’t want to do 15 OFT’s for one county!

I think I’ll try to just create one system with all the applicable frequencies and use the TG/Slot capability and see how that works.

I thought I had Okmulgee in my scanner.. apparently not any more...

I believe I had it setup as a OFT with all the frequencies listed under the frequencies. On the department > channels you could assign the TGs to whichever slot or any. Of course, I'm not 100% sure if the TGs follow the slots on all the repeaters in Okmulgee or not.

From what I can tell, it’s not a true trunked system. I looks as though units still have to change channels in their radios. For example, the same freq is used for Sheriff North and Fire North, just different slots and TG’s.

I forget, is it possible to enter more than one freq on an OFT? Maybe that’s what I’ll do, if it is.

Problem is, I don’t live close enough to monitor it to know if what I did will work.

If you don't like how the database has it set up you'll need to program it as 4 different OFT systems.
As the same TG are used for different things on different frequencies you must have those TGs in different OFT systems.

The rest of the TG's are single ones and you can add those TG's and frequencies to OFT1 or any other OFT as they don't interfere with anything else.
