New HP-2 question: Advanced registration ?

I just received my HP-2 today and working great (I am a previous HP-1 owner)

QUESTION:

Menu has option for: " Advanced menu registration " like key code,

I believe the HP-2 does not require any key codes as this option is now standard?

Thanks

#1 When does the green LED charge light activate? is not lit when I plug into my computers USB port and am charging the OEM batteries (computer plugged into ac source)
The charge light is red, it goes green when charge time is done. If your USB port is not a high powered port, it won't charge. (my Dell has 4 USB, only 1 hi-power)

Nope - still extra.

I charge my hp-2 per the instructions thebatteries charge OK the green led never comes on. Am I missing something, I set charge time to default 14 hours.
Am I overcharging batteries?

Power LED

I have charged the radio for more than 14 hours, the LED stays red.
I am charging with radio off with a 5VDC, 0.7A Samsung charger.
The concern is really not the LED itself, I am concerned if I'm
overcharging the batteries.

I'd try a 1.0 - Mine works fine with a 1.0 that was for a ZTE phone (just happened to have one. Allso have used a 2.5 amp one.

How many charge cycles have you gone through?

It should turn GREEN when charging is complete. Flashing red may be an error.

Good to know - IMHO some of those are a little liberal on their specs.

I have one from Amazon that has 4 ports,2 high output > 2.0 and 2 around 1 amp. I use these for phones and others, but worked fine for the HP.

phask you were right. The .7A charger was not enough.
Replaced power adapter with 2.0A and now the LED turns green.
Thanx

The charger is timed and should not have anything to do with the current capability of the charger.

If it doesn't have enough capacity it really should not even go into charge mode - just power.

There is some intelligence (beyond me) required in the charger.

I have never seen the mysterious "green light". Mine shows a steady "red" while charging, then the light flashes "red" when charging is complete.

I just tried my HP2 with a new high-power (2.4 amp/12 w) Belkin adapter, and it's flashing red. Does anyone have a definitive answer about this? (I've never had mine on charge long enough to see green - using other adapters it's displayed solid red.)

Flashing read means a battery fault detected.

Definitive answer: Any USB adapter will charge the batteries while the power is off. High-power adapters that are recognized as such will also charge the batteries while the power is on.

Well, that's odd. I'm now using an older Griffin adapter (not sure what power level), and it's solid red while power is on, so I presumably it must be high power. When I switch to the new Belkin adapter, it flashes red. Same batteries (the stock ones supplied with the radio). I guess I should return the adapter.

Here's the unit in question:

HP-2 green charge LED

I am now using stock 2300 ma batteries that came with the HP-2 and plugged into the vehicle 12vdc socket.

LED is red, as expected we will see while I am driving if that "mysterious elusive" green LED lights?

Hmmm. Also will flash if bad input voltage detected. USB voltage is a standard 5V regardless of the adapter's current capacity. The HP-2 will only draw the amount of current that it needs (which is less than 500 mA when turned off and charging).
