Does anyone know of a replacement lamp for the back-lighting on the BC898T? I see they use 4 orange lamps, not leds. Any replacement info would be a great help. Thanks

The Uniden part number for the lamps is BPZY0036001. They were listed on Uniden's site a few years ago but I can't find them there now. Searching on BPZY0036001 does bring up some third party sellers that list it as in stock. These lamps are soldered in so you will need a soldering iron and experience repairing electronic devices to replace the lamps.

Thanks. In my search I saw that bulb listed for the BC895. I was not sure if it was the same for the BC898T as that bulb shows as a 12volt bulb. The 898 has 2 bulbs in series across 9.5 volts (actually on each side of the display for a total of 4 bulbs) so I assumed they where 5 volt bulbs?

Yes, my notes indicate the lamp rating is 5V 60mA. The same lamp is used in the BC890XLT, BC895XLT, and BC898T. It is possible to replace the lamps with LED's if you do a bit of extra work.
