I have both radios side my side I to a multi coupler to an external antenna. No preamp.

I am noting (by ear) a minimum of 3db difference and perhaps as much as 6db(in favor of 996). On both VHF and UHF.

Anyone have feedback on this? Seems excessive difference. Tried swapping cables too.

Back to the depot for a tune?

What multicoupler is being used? (Mfr / model?) What coax and connectors? How are you measuring the 3db difference? Can you post a pic of your test setup? Is the attenuator enabled on either receiver?

Injecting a signal into my stridsberg with a HP service monitor I see very little if any difference on my 996P2's and my 536 no where near 3db which is twice the signal or twice the range as you speak.

Thanks Buddrousa, as a result of your post I double checked everything! Found a bad patch cable. Now side by side results equal by ear. Much much improved! Happy about that.
