Can you recheck this behavior against v1.11.17?

Welcome back to Firmware Friday.

http://info.uniden.com/twiki/pub/Par...P_V1_11_31.zip

1. Modified the issue of late entry to the other slot in DMR One Frequency
2. Added recovery processing for the missing of TGID Avoid by error slot in DMR One Frequency
3. Modified judgement criteria for Hytera XPT

I've only done a bit of testing, but looks good so far. For some reason, the audio on the large Con+ network I monitor sounds better. Less mud, crisper audio. Too early to really judge.

There's also an oddity with how information displays on my town's DPW channel. I have it programmed twice. Once as a OFT, once as a conventional DMR. It appears to show the TG and UID on the conventional frequency, but not the OFT. Which I thought was backwards. I'll have to look at that a bit more closely. That could be the way I have it programmed.

Thanks for the update, I look forward to more.

I'll install the new firmware tonight. I have recently taken the dive into DMR trying to identify some unknown systems out my way. I'll give it a go on what I know works and the Teir 3 stuff and let you know how it works.

If I haven't updated firmware since .22 will it be a cumulative update to jump to .31?

I've kept up with these "beta" releases -- finally "backed out" to the release firmware (.20?) because I felt the decoding of other things (particularly P25 but also P25 voice on legacy Motorola systems) was getting worse - even though I didn't think that was possible.

I care much more about P25 than DMR.

Of course, everyone's experience is different.

They are NOT patches, they are complete versions. Clue: they are always the same size.

I just hope that they actually release a working version and they don't leave it in "limbo" so to speak like the home patrol 1. I think I still have the beta firmware in my hp1 where you can open bring up the hidden menus and we were all supposed to answer whether a or b worked better and what value we used with a or b to get the best performance. I waited years to buy the new uniden line of scanners. I really hope they don't scrap this product and just release a new one that works. I want a working 436 and 536 or this is my last adventure with uniden.

Yep, different. I could not receive voice on my local P26 P2 system until 1.11.23. Would only get a flickering DAT/LNK and no voice.

Have to admit being leery of breaking things by trying 31. Be nice if it cleaned up the audio, which is the pits for my aging ears.

Try V17. I lose half of my P25 even on V20. and definitely gets a lot worse on anything above V20.

I'm in an area with both and my experience so far shows improvement in both P25 and DMR. Decoding data and audio are both significantly improved, and so far I haven't noticed any false TGID on the two Con+ systems I monitor frequently.

I'll keep listening and tracking the performance, but for now this seems to be an improvement over the past several releases.

How are you supposed to load the .bin file of this supposed new firmware? I use Sentinel and it thinks it's up to date.

Copy the bin file to the firmware folder on the SD card. Unplug the scanner and it will load the firmware. Since the firmware was posted by the Uniden rep, it's not "supposed" new firmware. It's actual test firmware provided by Uniden.

What I did with Windows 7:

With your USB cable attached to both the scanner and computer, go to Computer, look for Removable Storage Drive: mine was D, click on it, you will see BCDx36HP, click again, you will see a cascading list of files.

Look for the Firmware file. Place the .bin file into that folder.

Do not interrupt the process while it updates. The scanner will reboot. Unplug the cable.

Check the version by going to Menu, Settings, Scanner Information. It should list the Version you just uploaded.
I'm testing .31 to see how it works.

Download the ZIP file and unzip it. There will be two files, one for the 536 and one for the 436.
Pick the one you need and copy it to the firmware directory on the SD card in the scanner. Unplug the programming cable and the scanner will restart, load the new firmware, then restart again in normal mode.

Make sure that the programming cable is plugged in and the scanner is in "Mass Storage Mode" or you won't be able to copy the file over.

Keep in mind that this is beta firmware, which is why Sentinel doesn't recognize it and won't load it. If you're not comfortable with the procedure outlined above, you might want to think about whether or not you want to try this.

Uhh did what you typed, however at the point where you unplug and allow it to restart........THEN what? it didn't magically load the firmware.....and once again there is no way to mechanically load it via a menu and such.
