I was looking into a vhf/uhf antenna and 7/8/900 mhz sma antenna. I have a rs800 bnc antenna just looking for something different use. I'm using the stock sds100 sma adapter seems too small to change out antennas I have to unscrew the adapter.

Default BNC adapters for $5.00 !

If you're looking for a good BNC adapter, got this from Amazon and it works great. Snug fit and makes easy for removing antennas. No mods required.

And you get TWO BNC adapters for $5.00.

I have those, and if you don't shave material off the bottom, the SMA connector doesn't screw in as far as it should. In some cases the center pin may not seat into the hole in the scanner SMA connector, and you aren't engaging as many threads on the SMA connector as you should.

But if you machine some material off the outer bottom so the SMA connector screws in to the correct depth, and leave the correct diameter of the inner portion untouched, it fits snugly into the collar around the SMA connector for extra stability and rigidity, and takes some stress off the SMA connector.

It's working fine for me. I have no issues with reception or snug fit.

Would shaving off the bottom give you a few more threads, yes. Is it absolutely necessary ? no. For $5.00 it's worth a try.

What a difference. The fit is perfect and I can now swap out BNC antennas without having to unscrew the supplied adapter with it.

Jon,

I too received my sma to bnc adapter today and the fit is perfect. This will make it unnecessary of auxiliary equipment in the removal of BNC antennas on this radio.

Hi Jon, Iím being picky... Do you have the adapter in silver? The gold is too flashy for me.

I've got one nickel plated test unit. I didn't buy in quantity because it cost 3x as much, and it was taller. If you want it, place an order and specify nickel in the order notes. You got first dibs since you asked so politely.

The gold ones have been selling far beyond my expectations. I've cleaned out the seller on Amazon and several of the sellers on eBay. I'm still accepting orders, but shipping will take a week or more.

So has any other solutions been found or products released for an SDS100 antenna?
