Default BCT8 Excessive Crosstalk

All,
Experiencing what I would describe as very clear "crosstalk" across programmed frequencies. i.e. Fire dispatch with very strong signal programmed to channel 1 - 154.310 mhz Tower approx 20 miles away. Once I attached external antenna, now receive the 154.310 transmissions on several of the other high band channels and they are as clear as what is being received on the programmed channel. I'm thinking that the scanner may be defective as the freq synthesizer logic may be hosed.

Comments?
Jim
