I have to agree with Manny's post. It has to be something so unique that I'm willing to spend the dollars to get it.

The poster asking for D-Star, it isn't going to happen. Not in a scanner, unless you find a PCR-2500 with the D-star module installed.

I can wait till Saturday. It's been more fun to follow this thread though

Too many posts to sift through, but did anyone mention the idea of a companion app for tablet's/smartphones? I notice Uniden has a few apps up there in the iOS app store for some of their other products. Would love to see bluetooth/wifi programming & control (as long as it doesn't interfere with reception)

Well to chime in an add to what you said there N1SQB is that the fact of what allot of our Police are going to in the Country to keep us from listening, And It might not stop there if Fire & EMS Directors want there comm's silenced as well as some people would say hey let go look at good Fire.. and poke there self's in were they shouldn't be.. This could be considered the same as going to a police stake out..

So I don't know.. I want to see the new stuff come out as we all deserve something once in while but I'm the fence of putting money out for something that i can only pick up what i can pick and if it get's to the point to were my only Listen choice is our Reno County Transit Buses i rather not although they can be a bit comical sometimes.. Not sure which model you are talking about, as the HP-1 is hardly a "'Zipcode' only scanner". In fact, I rarely use the pre-programmed database in mine. I use it very much like any other scanner I have.

For me I would love to see TDMA II, TRBO and LTR Passport, if not will also stick to my 996XT.
Spoke to many radio experts they tell me in a scanner all of the above is doable.

TDMA II would be good for when Las Vegas gets their new system up and going and TRBO would be good for my local zoo and a couple of zoos in San Diego, but none of the local systems I listen to use any of the above so it's not a deal-breaker for me so much as it is a "real nice to have" for travel. I don't have a Uniden radio at this time so I have nothing to "stick with". If the new radio has either P2 or TRBO and the price is right, I might buy. I'm still in the market for a second radio.

TDMA and TRBO certainly can be done. I'm not to certain about Passport however and I would be somewhat skeptical of an expert who says so.

UPMan, will video of the announcement or a Press Release be available later in the day Saturday? It is now looking like I will not be home in time for the live announcement.

At the very least I'm hoping for TDMA II & TRBO. TETRA (Zeon) would be nice given in Melbourne, Victoria and other parts of Australia a lot of the Type II systems have gone or are going by the wayside for it.

Back to the last legitimate question: Yes, you can watch the video after the broadcast. I'll either repost it on a new page, or edit the broadcast version to be a-la-carte after the broadcast.

I believe Cskib32087 (if that is his real name) was trying to be funny...but to debunk that, Uniden is profitable and not delaying product releases.

UPMan, congratulations on a masterful job of building anticipation and buzz. No matter what features the new scanner does or doesn't have, this has been one of the most enjoyable threads on RR in years. Bravo.
