- the FUNC/MENU key (or what is said key on the 396) has not changed size nor location.
- it uses the same belt clip as the 396 (although it may be a plastic part instead of the metal lug on the 396).

I can't tell if the antenna is bigger than the 396; I tossed my stock antennas years ago for SRH789s.
Great catch! I didn't notice the LED. I wonder how the software will use it. It could even be a multi-colored LED..

You're welcome bro.

It's time to for me to check into the local radio club net on 2 meters.

I'll be back to check on any updates from UPMan.

Is that an LED... or just the "Sel Vol Sql" printed next to the control knob? At an angle it is hard to say for sure.

Thanks for the information Jay. I'm definitely going to be getting one of those.

The top looks very similar to the 396 including the audio jack (I see the jack instead of a LED, although that would be a good addition)

Based on the battery cover, I think it's a little taller yet

Belt clip seems to be attached directly to the body instead of the oval protrusion on the 396

Unhappy

Well, that was a quick net.

Looks like it's in pre-production.

I suppose that's possible. That's another thing that's worn off my 396 is that particular set of words, so I didn't notice them.

Since it won't be officially announced by Uniden until the 16th, I'd say pre-orders will start shortly thereafter. It won't ship until first quarter next year though.

That is a great idea. I know what I'll be working on tomorrow.

Next year?!

Uniden is really missing the boat on the Christmas shopping season. If they're releasing it that way to coincide with a fiscal cycle..smh. Just gimme the scanner! lol. Any beta testers needed? Sign me up.

Unless it has some sort of DMR receive and in scanner audio recording like my GRE PSR800, I won't be interested. Looking forward to seeing what will come though

That sounds sweet. I've been thinking of getting a digital voice recorder for my scanners. Hope it has that feature.

Maybe the different shape and size of the case is for a SD Card slot...

Talking Cover thy Port Include a Dust Cover

One thing I would like to see Uniden throw in the Box with the new Scanner is a Dustcover for the Headphone Port I don't how many time I went outside and it was misting or sprinkling out and I had to cover the Port with my hand so water wouldn't go down inside of it, I have used black electrical Tape to cover it but a dust cover would be a neat addition to it.. bear
