That's how the HomePatrol works, and this is based on the HomePatrol, so one would presume that you are correct.

If by "regular TDMA" you mean P25 Phase II then the answer is yes.

If you're talking about any of the several other types of TDMA, no.

Oh, and the difference between X2 and P25 Phase II? Different digital formats. (like WAV vs MP3)

Which USB does the BCD436HP use:
2.0 Mini Type B OR 2.0 Micro Type B?

Manual does not say and by looking at UPMan's Video on the 436 I was able to rule-out the other two possibilities.

It looked to me like it was a mini but after viewing it again I'm not too sure.

Yes it can. It goes where the stock one goes. Just make sure your external antenna connection is SMA or BNC as the scanner comes with an sma-bnc adapter.

Default Micro VS Mini..

I thought Uniden might use the Micro USB instead of the mini as reliability is suppose to be some what better.. And Space Saving..

Takes up pretty much the same amount of space. It's also somewhat easier to source a mini cable in my experience - there are probably 5 to 10 times as many mini cables/adaptors/etc as there are for micro.

yea uniden has used that old style plug for a many years that's on the 396 but I don't think there is nothing wrong in switching to the mini usb I use it on allot my stuff like powered speakers and things like that. so it might of been a good move going in this direction.

Default Recommended L-ion Batteries and Charger

I was curious on what would be a good brand recommendation for AA L-ion batteries, MAh High-Capacity and Charger/Conditioner unit? I want to have (AT LEAST) 8-Hours of operation. I'm talking Professional Camera Grade etc. I hate batteries that die in only a few hours.

Arrow

First power on of the BCD436HP. From batteries in to scanning local stuff in less than 2 minutes.

Default Poor LCD display?

Just watched the latest UPMAN video of the 436HP and I have to say that I agree with one of the comments.
The display format on the 436HP seems to be a real backwards step from the HP1 and maybe even the 396XT.

It probably doesn't help that it seems that the LCD illumination is switched off by default at first power up and towards the end of the video, the lights go out

Regardless, the GUI and LCD display hardware does appear to be a bit primitive compared to almost every other electronic consumer device being sold today..

Maybe it's a case of all function and little form. Lets hope so!

I agree; it does look good. The display is taller, but I can't tell from the video if it is wider (to allow for larger letters/numbers). I have a hard time reading my 346XT display. Does anyone know if the font size is larger than the BC346XT? Thanks!
