Those DTMF codes don't open the actual Know Box, they open a box in the apparatus that holds the physical key and a personal PIN must also be entered to open the apparatus box to obtain the key.

Some vendor should offer the radio via Amazon.

And AFAIK, Knox Box tones are not "Touch Tones". They are DTMF, but use different tone pairs.

Correct; they are not the CCITT DTMF standard. For example "1" in DTMF is 697/1209, but "1" in Knox is 606/1052.

I'm pretty sure Paul (UPMan) stated that the same GPS will work.

It's been awhile so I'll ask the question. Any time on the next video release?

Considering that he has a new product release in a few weeks, I'll put my money on the bet that he is extremely busy with that and doesn't have much free time to make videos. That said, in a little more than a few weeks you should be able to have a ton of video sources.

I can only imagine what Paul has on his plate right now not only with the release, I probably wouldn't be far off to say that some of the Head one's from Uniden will be here to witness the release or go to the big electronics show that's is in February. And with Christmas only 11 days away wow that weighs into the mix as well...

He deserves and may take a Vacay to some were after this all said and Done.. probably some were Warm..

It's highly likely there was a long and thorough beta testing process, but invariably a few quirks sneak through into production units in my experience.

Wow ok I have been reading and reading this thread and it seems never ending. It talks about edacs and a bunch of 3 and 4 letter acronyms that I am ignorant of. Plain and simple I live in Maryland. My main use for this unit will be to listen to Maryland state police, Maryland transportation authority (toll facility's), Baltimore City police, Harford county police, Baltimore County police and all Ems/Fire units in those areas. Will this unit support that? If not I guess there is no unit out there currently that will?

I thought when I started looking at this that it was going to be easy, but MSP doesn't make it anything short of complex.

According to the RRDB (RadioReference Database), they use a mix of lowband VHF, highband VHF, and UHF, all conventional analog; and several different agency's trunking systems, including Motorola Type II SmartZone, Harris EDACS, and Project 25 both Phase 1 and Phase 2. The good news is that these new scanners (and, with the exception of Phase 2, most recent older scanners) handle all these formats.

SmartZone, P25 I, P25 II, and UHF conventional. You're good.

I didn't check them all explicitly, but in looking at the above, most of them appeared to be on the same systems. So you should be good.

The systems and modulations that current scanners will NOT track or monitor include:

Systems:

- OpenSky
- iDEN
- MotoTRBO
- NEXEDGE/NXDN/iDAS
- MPT1327
- LTR MultiNet
- LTR PassPort

Modulations:
- DSTAR
- DMR
- EDACS ProVoice Digital
- EDACS Aegis Digital
- Motorola VSELP Digital

And of course anything in the database with an "E" in the "Mode" column is encrypted, and no scanner can, nor ever will, defeat encryption.
