I was notified recently by a friend at Snowbird that they just installed a new turnked digital Motorola system. Can someone confirm that it is indeed Digital? That seems pretty expensive for them? How can I get the frequencies and is their a portable scanner that will pick them up or search for them? I believe Uniden has a portable scanner that picks up digital? Is this true as I would hate to be locked out of listening.

I was there 2 months ago and they were still on the analog UHF frequencies.
It appears Snowbird will switch to a MOTOTRBO system. Unfortunately no scanner can monitor this.
Here are some new frequencies: WQKU555
451.9625
452.400
461.4125
461.5125

Hello. I am wondering if you can confirm they moved to their new system yet?
Thanks.

New Motorola Turbo

YES, they have indeed moved to the new system. I can still hear digital noise at times on the old channel 1 which was 461.450 however not listed on the list of the previous post? I think they kept this frequency in addition to the new ones. They are on digital and ecrypted Motorola Turbo. Does anyone know what color code they are using? How would one get that info? Is there a device that can scan for the codes?

It is Encrypted MOT TRBO System

If I bought a radio from my friends at Motorola how many color combinations and then 64K Encryption codes would I have to go through to figure it out? Does anyone on this forum have any insight on the coding?

This will be in use for airborne comms?
Is this going to be a trend for all Mil-Air comms ?
what would the reason for this be?

err wait , are we talking about the Canadian Snowbirds fight team or no?

n7slc, Are they running encryption as well?

@kd7rto: I'll be there in September and will bring a laptop capable of decoding cleartext MotoTRBO. If the system is clear then I can map it out, But if encrypted, then it will be pointless.

What program decodes TRBO?
