This evening I was listening to the crash up parleys and about every 30 seconds there was a lound beep for about 2-3 seconds can. Can some one tell me what this sound is from or if anyone else is hearing it.

The beep is an indicator that the channel is code 1.
This was very common when I lived in Dallas, TX, but I have never heard it hear. I always thought it was a good thing as units continually try to talk on the main channel because they have no idea it is Code 1. Glad to see that it is being used here now and I hope others pick it up and use it as well...
