Question Scanner with over 200 TGs

Hey guys...

With all the new additions to the DB I am in even more need of a scanner that will store over 200 talk groups in a given banks (system).

I currently have the BR330T from Uniden and while I can have multiple systems (event the same one over and over again) I am limited to 200 talk groups per system.

Does anybody know of a scanner on the market that will take over 200 in a given system?

You might consider the Uniden BC796D. It is an older scanner but is flashable. It is the big brother to the BC780XLT which I run and has 1,000 Channels (TGs) available. I can only program one system and 100 TGs per bank but there are 10 banks (you can have VHF/UHF and one trunking system in the same bank). It is possible to program the same "system" into a second bank and to actually program the same TG more than once. This one is also Digital capable where my 780 is not. It is a little large to carry around (also will not run from batteries unless it is a car battery) but it can be mounted in a vehicle very nicely.

You also might find a terrific price on this unit on eBay (if you care to deal with them) or even here on the Uniden Forum. Beyond that I am not familiar with the newer ones. I plan to wait until after the change before I buy a different one since my beloved 780 is not flashable.

Just sayin...

The BCD996T and BCT15 both allow 250.

Yep they are.

I ran in to this with my BC246T, hitting that 200 TG wall per system. There is still a ton of memory available though. I was just forced to really look at how I had created my systems and take a more managed approach. Using the cities and counties as the division line I just built systems following those guide lines. Made them small enough to even leave room for some of these new TG's we are finding. Also allows me to isolate a certain system much easier for high traffic like Utah County earlier this week.

All current Uniden trunked scanners are flash upgradeable.

My scanner 396T which is full overall at 6000 channels is at max store of 250, which i guess means it cant hold more than 250 search stuff on autostore and more than 250 TGIDS it can be set to 256. But it will always say over limit so yeah i would probably want a secondary too. mine i think its reflashable as far as upgrades and rebanding i donno if it can be reflashed to hold more TGIDS or channels/frequencies. if it did i wouldnt mind that!

Edited to fix missspelled word and puntuation. Looky a period.

The period is such a neat invention ;> No the Uniden cannot be reflashed to hold more than 250 talkgroups per system.
