Default 3389 kHz Numbers

The Cuban numbers lady is on 3389 kHz upper sideband right now, 0146 UTC. First time I heard her at this frequency. Signal strong in Richmond.

She's gone now, 0149 UTC. Either ended her broadcast or taking a break. The carrier is still there.

Now the carrier is gone, 0150 UTC. Guess she's done.

Default Now she switched modes

Ok, she started back up, this time in LSB mode on 3391.3 kHz, 0214 UTC. Never saw this behavior from her before. (And no, she is not in AM mode on 3390. This receiver does perfect ECSSB to the kilohertz).

Funny that she's doing this almost on top of the MARS freq 3390.

Thumbs up

I also heard it, and thought though it was strange. I was switching between the KA1103 and R75. It was a weird night all around, was finding all kinds of stuff on the bands.

Question Maybe a Pirate

Been thinking about this... Is it possible that it was a Pirate Re-broadcasting the audio?

Of course it's possible, but...

Anyway, seems pretty unusual for whomever it is (assuming it's a legit clandestine service broadcast) to be on that low of a freq, but maybe the broadcast is directed to people that listen in on tropical band broadcast stations often...

WisconsinRailfan, I'm glad that you heard it too. And I was also wondering if maybe the MARS guys were re-broadcasting it, like for a training exercise or something. She did sound a little different -- a little 'hollow' for lack of a better term -- and it was right on top of their 3390 frequency. (In fact I was looking to tune into one of their nightly nets when I came across it). I did not hear her there last night.
