Increased EAMS
I wonder how much of the increased activity has to due with North Korea's threat to fire a missle at Hawaii over the July 4th weekend.
News Wire Quote
"The United States has deployed anti-missile defences around Hawaii amid claims that North Korea may fire its most advanced ballistic missile toward the region on Independence Day.
The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles, would be launched from the Dongchang-ni site on July 4 from the north-western coast of the country. North Korea test-fired a similar long-range missile on July 4 three years ago, but it failed seconds after liftoff.
This is North Korea's Taepodong-2 missile which has a range of 4,000 miles. Intelligence analysts do not believe it would be capable of hitting Hawaii which is 4,500 miles away.
U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates said the additional defences around Hawaii consist of a ground-based mobile missile system and a radar system nearby. And he said that ground-based defenses in Alaska were also at the ready."
Add to the mix a US Warship following a N.K. Freighter amid threats from N.K. of retailation and possible use of nukes if the US interfers in any way and I would think there will be alot more message traffic in the week or so.

Heard quite a few from 0234z on 11175 in progress, female voice ended at 0235z. Switched to 8992, male voice in progress, poor reception, I agree with a previous post about "weird noise". Sounded like a helicopter !
Back over to 11175 at 0240z male voice, called out a 6 figure group (DW63BR) three times, fourth time with a 125 character message. Then those dreaded three words "I say again..." he was tired, you could hear it in his voice ! Took a break, came back on with different 6 fig group (DWEWGI) plus 125 character message. Simulcast on 8992. "This is FALCON NET..." at 0250z
0305z in progress, female voice on 8992, very good reception. "SKYKING SKYKING do not answer..." Called out the first 6 fig group as above, with 50 character and second (DWEQGI) with 125. Then those dreaded three words "I say again..."
This thread is getting interesting...

Yes the female was at Andrews AFB. The male was likely in an A/C of some type (refueling tanker, etc.)

I listened a while yesterday afternoon... Propagation seemed decent. Heard a call from Magnavox. Then some other calls from a few Reach guys and others. Seemed like a lot of guys were hunting for divert fields. Guess the weather was bad in some areas.

other than a couple of one or two sentence exchanges down in the noise, I've heard nothing for two days.
*edit*
07/02 - 22:45z - "Andrews Andrews this is speedboat speedboat, how copy?"
no reply from Andrews, response from "Puerto Rico".
speedboat: "Roger Puerto Rico coordinating with computer tech on nine three two zero, no joy."
Puerto Rico down in the noise.
speedboat: "Roger Puerto Rico request frequency for h f voice check."
speedboat: "Copy Puerto Rico one one two two zero over."
switching to 11220 - speedboat: "Roger Puerto Rico good copy over"
Puerto Rico down in the noise then everybody faded.
