That is a flight into San Diego. Everyone have this file..? Although I am not sure the Jackal heard is any of the units listed.

Getting strong reception now with the longwire/discone what am I hearing here? Is he referring to North Island Naval base in San Diego? Or is there one in Illinois-I know the phonepatch was going to an Illinois area code-is that where the pilot was located?
Ridge, your USB sounds off-freq there. You shouldn't hear the donald-duck reverb at that frequency. You might want to look for a calibration procedure for the R-71.

If you notice in the third video, I zeroed it in about a third into the video, then the pilot came in perfectly through then the lady started to give readings. I didnt have it dead-on-this radio needs no recal

it's that high-altitude comm with airlines. I just heard a call from an Alaska Air at 34000' to San Francisco tower

...this clip is on the R75 with that amplified antenna tuner hooked to the other discone without the longwire. Andrews in Maryland comes in like it's in the next town!

Yeah but you shouldn't hear that on a reading of point zero. I'm not sure if you have a Tone/Bass/Treble control on that radio - that could be it or it might just be the microphone of your camera. Not a big deal. Ears are subjective.

Yeah thanks. I swore I heard a USB carrier in the noise, but for whatever reason, I wasn't able to distinguish any intelligible speech. It's MWARA (HF Aero)... CEP frequencies from San Fran.

Look at clip 3 again- i AM at point zero. I just wasn't perfectly adjusted WITHIN point zero till I bumped the dial to center it within point zero. At 00:28 in the video is when it was dead on-you can hear the female and Jackal sound normal after that. Gees now I'll have to do another video

Thanks for that one-you guys have some pretty deep resources

I am over here hunting and pecking swaths of what I know are MILCOM and discovering active stuff-like just now I got home, flipped on the R71 and started tuning down off 9 and caught some MILCOM pretty damm close to me (strong signal!) on 8983KHz-USB. Nick you may want to try that one since you're on this end too Looks like it's Coastguard.

This thread is kinda wandering off topic - it started talking about EAMs, now it's MWARA and USCG stations. These are two very different topics.

Feel free to start a new thread for these topics, but let's please bring this back to the subject at hand
