Odd. That perspective makes it look like the plane is parked in the grass.

yeah this is because Putin and Obama are having a pissing match over Crymeariver, so every so often they warm up a few just to mess with each other.

Was anyone listening yesterday? Kept hearing FIREDOME call sign, they seemed to be sending messages similar to MAINSAIL. Also caught OTIS 12, If my lists are correct a KC 130 from NC. Anyway non-stop voice messages yesterday. I thought it could have been related to the drills they have been having, but those ended Friday. Maybe moving assets back to their home bases? I don't know. Anyway great weather here again today, going back out to listen. Mike

Could be related to the exercises in Eastern Europe.

Not sure if any E6s were up, but from the amount of traffic I heard , I would assume they could have been. I never heard any of their specific call signs----but I was trying to keep track of multiple messages almost every time someone keyed up.

Today I was getting a fair amount of messages on 15.016, but could not even hear 11.175, which is odd for me. 8.992 was still coming in weak (daytime). Heard a message for what I thought was AMPEG 04 (like the amps?), but looking through my list I found an AMPEX listing, which could very well have been what I heard. Not sure if would matter in any way, but instead of saying 4, the message was specific (it was read several times), they would always say 0-4. Mike

@Haley, I've noticed how busy it's been with EAMs and Skyking DNAs over the past few days. Most of the ones I heard were not designated for anyone except one I heard a week or so ago on 8992 kHz "for Battle Euro".

Be interesting to see if it continues this week like it has been going.

Very active right now. Patch from RAIDER13 having engine problem and turning back to Miramar. Multiple EAMs also. The freq. for RAIDER13 was off quite a bit. 11.173USB. Asked for an alt. freq also. This was at about 1800 UTC. Mike

Sabre 35 requesting radio check from any station got a reply from Banger (Bangor) 2. It's been a good day listening so far. Glad my wife talked me into taking the day off.

As I was typing , there was a message for ALLOUTTE 76. Normally I get lots of tankers, but today there seems to be more fighters. Everything I've caught today is just standing in my back yard with my old DX398 , and whip antenna.

Default Red River / 11.175

Hearing lots of traffic to/from Red River.

Does anyone know for sure who / what / where "Red Rive" is? See to have some communications maintenance traffic as well as aircraft operational traffic.

Been told previously this is Barksdale AFB, LA. Is this correct?

Thanks for any insight someone may have on RED RIVER

No authoritative information, but wouldn't be surprised. As you probably know, the Red River is the major river that runs through Shreveport & Bossier City, just west of Barksdale.

Anyone been listening today? Just heard MONOGRAM request a patch from Offutt , the other station sounded like CHOCLATE. When they got connected MONOGRAM asked for CH. 18. And talked about an orderwire. This was a first for me. Still trying to find info on the call signs. This was about 1800UTC. Mike
