Default Burlington PD Encrypted?

I was in the Burlington area and Burlington proper today.

There main Dispatch Freq listed as 460.125 DPL 306 in the RR database was being keyed up all the time and running in P25 NAC 658 fully encrypted. Another freq listed in the scan new england wiki as 460.1 was in the clear but much less activity and I was not even 100% sure it was Burlington. Definitely no dispatching going on that channel.

Anyone else out there that can confirm?

I knew South Burlington had been known to run P25 encryption but this is the first I have heard of Burlington running P25 or encryption.

I live in Burlington, and can confirm that the Burlington PD frequency has been at least all digital since around thursday or friday. I dont have a digital scanner, so all i can tell is i can only hear electronic noises on that frequency now. 460.125 is their normal dispatch frequency.

460.1000 used to be Essex Jct PD.. unless something has changed.. it has been a while since I lived up there.

Didn't hear any P-25 or encrypted chatter today. Everything was in the clear.

Great, this was on 460.125 correct?

We will see how this progresses but at least today is a bit of good news. Talking to my brother who goes to school up there, he does now seem to recall seeing on the TV news up there that Burlington was switching to a new radio system and mentioned encryption. He did not say in what context but we can only hope they were maybe just touting the capabilities of the new system and there are no plans to actually run encrypted. A google search and a search of the newspapers, tv news website archives yielded no info.

I'm not crazy though, when I was there a week ago it was definitely P25 with something wrong with it or P25 encrypted.

Thanks for the update!

Sitting here in Burlington

PD definitely running full P25 encryption about 90% of the time on 460.125 NAC 658

Occasionally they come up analog in the clear D306 but not often

Wondering if just a few units have not had their radios upgraded and still use analog for some reason or what's going on. I believe some reports I've been hearing from locals saying "there still analog in the clear" are people with analog scanners hearing the little analog in the clear traffic that still exists.

Glad I don't live up here. This is the last place I could imagine being so concerned about who is listening to the PD, not exactly a hotbed for crime

Default Burlington PD Encrypted?

460.100 is still Essex PD's primary frequency & is usually quite active.

Unhappy

Just got back from Burlington, one of my favorite places to visit. I always bring my scanner and have for years. I was so bummed to discover that the PD is using full-time encryption.

It's the beginning of the apocalypse.

It's been going on for a year and a half or more.
