Default Fire Alarm

I monitor Fire Alarm Dispatch out of St. Johnsbury Vermont. I'm just wondering if they have a repeater freq. that they use along w/ their Primary Dispatch channel. I can't find it anywhere. The only freq. I can find is their control channel. I also monitor Twin state fire mutual aid out of NH and they have a repeater freq. so that you can hear both sides of the conversation. I find it hard to believe that the area Fire alarm covers they wouldn't have a repeater to relay transmissions. Thanks for any help.

Well, according to the database, St. Johnsbury Dispatch only dispatches for the town of St. Johnsbury so I guess there isn't really much of a need for a repeater. St. Albans Central is the same way though. They don't have a repeater and the dispatch for St. Albans City, St. Albans Town, Georgia, Fairfield, Bakersfield, Sheldon, AmCare Ambulance and Georgia First Response. I don't think you should have too much of a problem with St. Johnsbury because it according to the FCC, it looks like they transmit on 110 watts. Good luck!

Asmitty0010 - what freq do you hear the Twin State repeater on?

I think you are referring to a 'link' repeater. A "link" repeater usually serves to link a dispatch office to a mountaintop radio site. If Saint Johnsbury has phone lines running from their dispatch office to their transmitter sites, then they dont neeed to use a "link" repeater.

On the other hand, it might be cheaper to use a "link" repeater than to pay the monthly charges on phone lines. On the other, other hand - if you use phone lines, you wont get any interference on your "link" channel.

Make sense? Peter S

Thanks for the info!

As for the Twin State repeater, it is a link from a mountain to the dispatch center. I never thought about having a phone line, good call.

Default fire alarm

Contrary to the data base, St Jay Fire dispatches for numerous volunteer fire departments in Caledonian and Essex Counties as well as CALEX Rescue. 154.250 is the nonrepeated frequency.

While I have no concrete information to contribute, you might want to try searching the 453 and 458 MHz ranges to see if there is a link in those ranges.

Default St Johnsbury Fire Dispatch

You will only find the UHF links to the towers. Orleans Cty sheriff and VT SP Bradford are on the 458 freqs.

Yep, that's what I'm saying. It sounds like the original poster can only hear one side when some calls come in; similar to what happens on 154.190 with Capital West. I've found that monitoring the link allows you to hear both sides of Capital West's dispatches. Maybe such a set-up exists up there as well. But as I said, I have nothing concrete; it's just a guess.
