Vertex Standard Vx-180 Programming

Our FD has two VX-180s and we are needing to reprogram them. I have the software and the cable. It uploads to the program just fine. However, when trying to write back to the radio, I am getting Communications error. Ive tried readjusting the COM settings, but nothing has worked? Has anyone gotten their radio programmed? If so, what are the COM settings that the radio will work with?
