Smile VX-10 UHFquestions

I have my late Dads old radios so I don't know much about them. I do know they are all the same, look like new and all work. They have the FM Transceiver A & B keypads.
My questions are;
What is the range in miles?
About how old are these?
How do I find out the Freq. range?

On the back side it shows VX-10 (4X)

Thanks,

Question Range really depends

As with any hand held, range varies as much as the number of people on earth. Simples 0.5 to 5 miles hand held to hand held line of sight. Maybe a little more than 5 miles to a base. 10 miles to 50 miles through 1 repeater. However, should have license to transmit on ALL frequencies except for FRS. But I am not certain it is certified for the GMRS, FRS frequencies. Someone else might know this.

Default

The VX 10 is a 4 watt UHF normally 40 channel radio normal frequency range is 400-470mz and was produced in 1995-2000

It was designed for commerical and public safety use. It can be programmed into the ham bands as well.

It takes a older software that is hard to find but is still around.

As robertmac said, range depends on a lot of things.
