• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hi, I am doing a little project for my municipal PD (Non-Profit). their radios currently have MDC-1200 for their identifiers. In the actual physical codeplug Under "SIGNALING - No" Option #2 (MDC1200) is selected and available. How ever, when I ever go to the settings tab "signaling" - "MDC1200" is unselectable (Grayed out) to modify. I figured it was my Software being out of date and needed the newer software -so I purchased and downloaded the most up to date software, still unselectable. Do you know why this would be??? the radio is a mobile - Vertex Standard VX-4200 series Firmware: 1.77 - Software CE59 V 4.04. Like I said the radio already has an MDC1200 ID in it which they currently use. They requested me to update some channels for them and I need to do it on multiple radios and it would be a lot easier and less time consuming to have the codeplug pre-made for each unit apposed to reading each device and modifying the code on location.

VSOL is showing current FW as 2.22 and CE59 as 4.01.

I can take a peek at the software on Monday when back in the office and see if something jumps out at me.

MDC1200 is only for VX820/920 series under that programming software (CE59).
If you want to do MDC1200 you need the VME-100 add on board and the software (CE73) to program the VME-100.

MDC1200 is not standard in that radio that's why it's grayed out. It's just for VX820 and VX920 series radios.

Hope this helps.

I was so lucky that loading the code plug in each mobile didnt even effect the id that was in each radio! Didnt have to change anything but thank you!
