From what I understand the trooper is pretty banged up, but is o.k. The subject was in the front seat and handcuffed. The cuffs made a nasty weapon. (No cages in state police cars.)
The guy then ran out into the woods (lots of woods in the area). A deputy came into contact with him later that night and they had a major scuffle and rolled down a large bank. The subject was able to get away then too. I heard a BOL broadcast for him this morning, but I don't know if they were able to get him today.
EDIT:
There hasn't been any news coverage... news is pretty lax here on the weekends, especially if it doesn't involve Harrisonburg or one of the cities in Augusta County.
