North Fort Lee Contractor Comms
I am hearing low power comms from one of the contractors on North Ft. Lee on 468.4625 mhz. no pl. As a result of the BRAC impact on Ft. Lee construction, etc., the part of Fort Lee that is separated by Rt. 36 and closest to Temple Ave. now officially is called "North Fort Lee". Much of the new construction has been underway there for some time but today is the first time I've heard this contractor. The main post on the other side of Rt. 36 from North Ft. Lee as best I can determine still is referred to as "Fort Lee".
As with many contractors this one appears to be from out of state. I don't know whom the various successful BRAC contractors were or if there is a list of them on the internet somewhere. If so a FCC database search might be productive in identifying some of them if they have their own licensed frequencies. This particular one appears to be a major contractor as today concrete was being poured and internal work done on one of the larger buildings. So far his comms have not been helpful in identifying who he is. Individuals are called by name. In time with more construction planned for the new Ordnance museum, etc. there probably will be more low power 466-469 mhz. contractor activity on Ft. Lee and North Ft. Lee. Some construction companies that operate nationwide have nationwide licensed frequencies.
Access to North Fort Lee is restricted and not open to public access making a visual id of a contractor vehicle that might display his name and home location impossible.
For some such contractors who operate nationwide FRS or common shared itinerant vhf/uhf frequencies are not the most desirable choice for their comm requirements for various reasons.
