Newbie Williamsburg

Hello I just recently moved from Calif to Williamsburg and after reading some post's here it seems everyone is APCO 25. So before I fork out some money for a shiny new digital scanner, IS everyone digital and is there any agency(s) that are encrypted? Thanks

p.s. I only really care about monitoring police and fire and military if I can.

James City County, Virginia (VA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Take a peek....looks like mostly digital, with William and Mary PD encrypted.

That area yes, and they do use encryption on some of the channels, including fire and ems

The JCC/York/Williamsburg system is probably the most difficult to listen to in the area. They use randomized encryption on most all talkgroups so unless you have a newer digital Uniden scanner (that ignores encrypted TG's) listening to the system may get annoying.

Welcome to VA. Don't forget Va State PD. There are reams of posts here about the STARS.

Lots of military air down there too, maybe you should branch out?
