Default New Chesterfield Fire & EMS unit numbers

A letter was issued by Chesterfield Fire & EMS to the metro Richmond fire chiefs this week, and it reads, in part:

"Chesterfield Fire and EMS will be utilizing a new Computer Aided Dispatch System (CADS), effective July 28, 2004. With the cut-over to our new CADS, we are implementing a different unit numbering system.

We have designated our units by function and then station number. The exception is second out units, which will be a 200 series number. Example is the first out engine at Station 4 will be Engine 4; the second out engine would be Engine 204. Our EMS transport units will be designated Ambulance if BLS, and Medic if ALS. Example is the ALS transport unit from Station 16 is Medic 16, and a BLS transport unit, Manchester 324 would be Ambulance 324."

For those interested, the new unit numbers are as follows:
Company 1 - Engine 1, Engine 201, Brush 1

So the volunteer squad unite numbers aren't changing, just the "designation"?

Correct, they'll keep their 300, 400, 500, or 600 series numbers, just will be Medic or Ambulance.

The Squad Captains will be EMS 300, EMS 400, etc.
