That is crazy. I heard some really bad interference on several VHF frequencies last night. I'm not sure if there is any correlation here.

Probably was, skip can interfere with local stuff. I heard too late that the 10 meter ham band (28 MHz) was open too.

We're in the downward slide from a good sized CME that hit Earth yesterday. Conditions will probably be a bit unstable for another day or two

We used to hear CHP skip and some kind of Mexican radio for a while.

If you don't mind me asking....what antenna are you using to pull in CHP. I used to get them in Portsmouth with an Antenna Specialist Antenna outside but that broke, and they don't make that model anymore. I have a Scantenna now but it doesn't perform nearly as good. Thanks.

I use a coil-loaded VHF-Low mobile (I think it's a Larsen) on a homemade groundplane kit (4 x 16" radials at 90 deg separation) up at about 36 ft. It's fed with LMR400. Works just ok, but nowhere near as good as I had hoped.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is mounted on a 20 foot mast on top of the house with Belden 9913 cable. If your getting CHP on a long bounce like that it must be doing something right. I was hoping for better performance with the scantenna as well.....like yours it is ok but no great shakes. Thanks again.
