Hi all,
I'm going to Harrisonburg and was curious as to what federal frequencies were in the area,
Park Rangers, FBI, US Marshals, D.E.A. Etc.

I am under the impression that most of that is encrypted P25. I know the National Park P25 system is partially/mostly encrypted.
Somebody in Harrisonburg will probably jump in here...

There is not much federal activity in Harrisonburg that I know of. Like gcgrotz said, I have always thought that is mostly encrypted now, so I have not really attempted to find a lot of federal frequencies. Shenandoah Nat'l Park does have a good P25 system... but again it is largely encrypted.
I have a scanlist w/ common fed frequencies in my scanner. I will have to turn that on and also do some searches to see if I can come up with anything else. Sorry, don't really have a good answer.

There is an additional P25 system on the Blue Ridge Parkway whose Northernmost point is Rockfish Gap just East of Waynesboro. I forget if it's Forest Service or US Park but quite often the transmissions are in the open. The Skyline Drive and BRP channels get very busy on holiday weekends. Also, despite the various area frequency assignments you will often hear a dispatcher on one single channel dispatching calls for widely separated areas. I don't think that anyone has yet mapped the interconnects for these systems.
