Inauguration Questions

1. On a Secret Service SUV I saw 2 antennas that were about 2" in diameter and about 12" tall. Any idea what freqs. they are for, what they are, who makes them, etc.?

2. When Obama's car left the White House, the number plate was blue with only a 1 on it. Later when they left the capital it was a different car. That number plate was blue with USA 1 on it. Also the SUVs seemed to have the same USA 1 plates. Is there a list somewhere showing the various official Presidential/Secret Service plates?

I thought that Suburban with the big antennas scrambled cell phones and other frequencies used for detonating IEDs.... I believe I read that in monitoring times a while ago.

The first limo appears to have been Bush's....as they drove together to the Capitol. Other news stories state there are at least two limos with the "1" plate.

I saw the new CadZilla limo had USA 1

I heard on TV that number plates #1 & #2 are for the Pres. & Vice Pres.
Doesn't anyone know about the USA 1 number plates?

Speaking of Motorcades and the President, didn't they used to have things where for security reasons they would have several limos and no one was supposed to know which limo actually contained the President?

Unless that was something in the movies, I swear I heard of something like that once.

Also, what is "imminent departure?" You heard this talk about constantly on IBN's feed around 7PM on the 19th. It was like "Clear all radio traffic for a little while, imminent departure." Were they "practice" runs?

They still do that. It's not very effective at events like the inauguration, though, where there are cameras trained on the president and the motorcade the entire time.
