DC 911 System Failure

D.C.’s 911 system outage around midnight was caused by an equipment failure, officials said in a press conference Sunday morning. They said the outage, which lasted for more than an hour, started with a power failure at the 911 call center.

Not an equipment failure....a later report says the primary cause was a maintenance contractor who detected water intrusion and hit the master OFF switch to prevent equipment damage from the water.

Way too easy to take that system down.... in addition to no longer allowing the engineer that caused the problem into the building, hopefully they are looking at the overall system design that allow this to happen.
