The database lists WMATA rail and police operations as using conventional frequencies in addition to, or simulcast with, the trunked system. I have not heard any activity in several hours of listening to the frequencies over the past few weeks - does anyone know if they are still active or if everything has moved to the trunked system?

I have been listening to the trunked system and I hear police activity but not train activity. I was riding in the front car behind the enigineers booth and I could hear a lot of radio traffic that sounded digital but nothing on the UHF system.

Does anyone have tips on the best way to listen to the Trunked system? I will randomly get a lot of digital noise on some transmission, while other will be perfect. I am Adams Morgan in DC. Could it be that the transmissions are coming from different towers? Does anyone know where the repeaters are? Do the repeaters resend all traffic on the system or is it zone based?

Thanks!
