Exclamation NEW Kitsap County Communications Plan

Kitsap County Emergency Communications plans to upgrade all vehicles and hand-held radios to new radio frequencies next month. The change will start with Bainbridge Island and Bremerton Fire Departments moving to the county frequency. The change in radio frequencies impacts both fire and law enforcement agencies & the improved, consolidated communications plan provides for 5 or 6 tactical frequencies to be available for police and fire users.

Anyone have more info on this "plan” and know what the new frequencies are going to be??

I did not know about the change. I would also be interested in the new plan as I live on Bainbridge Island and listen to Fire and PD all the time. Please post if you hear any more info.

If he's like many fire chiefs, their knowledge of radio systems is limited to pushing the mic button and talking.

I found the information on the new Kitsap County CenCom frequencies on this site. Are the new frequencies for the Sheriff dept. in use?. I'm not hearing anything on them (155.685 and 155.025). I don't seem to be hearing anything on the old ones (158.880 and 155.430) either. Anyone know whats going on? I'm in north Kitsap.

[edit] I am hearing fire dept. on 154.370.

OK, it was just interference. I'm hearing them again. I'm glad I learned about the new frequencies though. Anyone know when they go into effect?

All I know is that Bainbridge island fire is now on the same frequency as Kitsap county.Which is fine with me. The vhf low band coverage stinks. 154.370 seems to e dispatch only for Kitsap fire and Bainbridge fire. I guess they don't use any fire ground frequencies at all?

Stavro35,

So 33.700 is no longer active then? I imagine it had a lot of problems during band openings.

I recently got a new PC and it seems to generate a lot of interference. So, I can't use my handheld scanner near the computer now. I plugged the new frequencies in so I'll hear them when they come on line.

[edit] Kitsap County fire dept. does have some tactical frequencies, 153.770 and 159.015, and Red Net on 153.830.

Default 33.7 for BIFD.

Correct,it would appear that BIFD is now being dispatched by Kitsap county fire on their main frequency.

doesn't seem so smart to me when narrowbanding is pretty much right around the corner.....

i mean, it's good that they are wanting to consolidate and make everything work, but if you are going to drop a quarter million $ on radio stuff.... probably time to start looking at a bond issue and taking your system to the next logical step... i.e. go forward instead of sideways
