Thank you. It looks like the info you provided above matches what we already have in the DB. So I haven't changed anything. If I'm wrong about that please let me know.
The map link that Jess provided should already list that site in there.
Take care,
Mike

Construction Notification - Williamson (MINGO) Site
Below is a link to information submitted by WVSIRN to the FCC regarding the construction requirement being met for the Williamson (Mingo Co) site:
http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/ApplicationSearch/applNotificationSum.jsp?applID=6840514
So if any of you are within listening range of the Williamson, WV, you should program in the following frequencies and see if there isn't a live site. According to the document, the construction was complete 5/1/2012.
Site: Williamson (Mingo)
License: WQNU464
453.3750
453.5625
453.8500
460.4750

Mike, could you check the FCC database and see if a Thurmond,wv tower is up,since I heard last week TG 5915 talking about signal strength of their radios when they was driving through the area(one was driving through summersville)and they mentioned a thurmond tower. This is the second time in the past year I've heard about thurmond(one from newspaper and the second hearing that talk),so I dunno if there actually is a tower up or not???

Bert,
I checked current FCC licenses, pending FCC licenses, and the FCC Antenna Registration Search (to look for any new towers in the area). I didn't come up with anything.
So far, the only things I see are:
- A state-owned tower erected within the last year west of Rt 19, south of Oak Hill / Scarbro. The tower registration calls the city and county Glen Jean / Fayette. In my mind, this would be the most likely tower site since it is owned by WVDHHR. There is no FCC license for this site yet.
.
- A site down in Beckley (much closer to metro Beckley, north of the existing Beckley site) -- this Beckley site has a license of WQOP400 and lists frequencies as 453.525 and 460.6375. This site hasn't been reported as active yet and thus isn't in the DB.
.
- Sites we already know about, such as Pax to the west, Alderson to the southeast and Ansted to the north. These sites are already online and in the DB.
If I notice anything new on the horizon, I'll be sure to report it.
In the meantime, if you think a site might be active, you might want to do a manual search between 450 - 465 Mhz and make note of every P25 control channel you come upon. One of them might just be a new site for which there is no documentation yet.

Before everything got changed around I know down in Thurmond they was a license for the state park and it was in the vhf freq. I looked for it a while back and could not find it. The tower in Scarbro if it is the one I think it is the next time I work a night shift I will look and see if the beacon is flashing on it. From looks it looks like a cell tower.

In my Google Map there is a yellow pin that designates the recently constructed WVDHHR tower as well as a red plus sign that designates "proposed 400-foot Thurmond tower". Now, I don't know where I got the lat/long coordinates for that proposed tower - it was a while ago.
https://maps.google.com/?ll=37.95015...17294&t=h&z=11
I know there are some cell towers around the general area of Scarbro, Oak Hill, Thurmond, etc. But the only WVDHHR-owned tower in the area that I know of is the one with the yellow pin in the map.

I'm fairly sure that this would be the Glen Jean Site you are referring to. I know it sure would be nice to have it then the area between Sun Mine through the Mt. Hope dip on Rt. 19 would be covered (Ansted & Pax Sites are very weak in that area). Next time I'm down that way I'll run a search and see if I come up with any new cc's. Also the Beckley Site would cover spots downtown that would not be covered very good by the Ghent or Pax Sites. Hopefully it will come online soon also.
The tower is built for the Cottle Site but it doesn't look like any antennas or anything is on it yet. It shouldn't be much longer though. I was in the Chas area today but didn't pick up on TG 5915 though (bummer)

Hampshire Question
I'm in Hardy County, almost on the Hampshire County line and using a PRO-106.
I get Hampshire Fire just fine on SIRN, but I'm not hearing Hampshire Sheriff. In fact, I'm not getting anything from them on 151.1675 or 154.31, either (the two freqs RR lists for them).
Either I'm doing something wrong or this county has shut down its Sheriff's Department. Did civic order break out, or am I missing something here?

Moorefield Tower
The Moorefield Tower is now using its published (RR) alternate freq 460.1375 as the primary control channel. Been that way for at least a month, so I'm considering it permanent. Works just fine.

No problem Mike,
Actually I live around Willamson, on the Kentucky side, South Williamson.
A new tower has been installed at the Mingo County Airport and has antennas on it.
Mingo County 911 is also getting a new radio room.
Thank You
Eddie

Well South Charleston Fire has went Digital on the SIRN and their Police are working the kinks out of channel 1 but channel 2 is working fine. Dunbar PD is supposed to join So Charleston on channel 1 in the future, Dunbar PD channel 2 is working good too. I'm keeping a ear on all the new stuff going online.
