Confirmed and submitted to RR...
Some units are on handheld radios, not all cars have SIRN.
Also noticed that Beckley PD and FD are sporting UHF antennas now but have not heard any activity.

Thanks Harry for the confirmation. Maybe with the city units having UHF antennas it shouldn't be too much longer and they might be on SIRN.

73s have a good day

Recent un-ID'ed talkgroups observed in Charleston area:

6713
6729
7369

I logged these using PRO96COM during late April.

Any ideas?

KD4YGG the first two are KRT Buses under Kanawha County in the WVSIRN. The last one is Jackson County BOE Ch. 1. I haven't added the last one because I have not heard it here. The buses are under a umbrella note saying 6701 thru 6799 are KRT vehicles.

To all the listeners in the North Central part of the state, I was going to Clarksburg today and noticed on the way there appeared to be what looked like a SIRN Tower/Site just off I-79 at Roanoke (Lewis Co). On the way back I ran a UHF search to find a strong control Channel but the only hits were the Weston and McWhorter Sites nearby. If this site is by some chance not online yet maybe any listener(s) in that area could confirm when this site becomes active.

73s and hope everyone has a very Happy Father's Day!

Mountain Fest @ Mylan Park near Morgantown. It starts this coming Wednesaday. State Police always have a strong showing there as well as Monongalia County Sheriffs. Any idea what special frequencies they might run for this event. They always have their command post there as well. Any listening tips would be great. Thanks

Hey Surge

Nice to meet you I would start off by programming in all the WVSIRN State Police Shinnston TGs as well as the State Police Event TGs and conventional lowband/direct frequencies. For the Monongalia Co Sheriff's Dept program in all of their WVSIRN TGs as well (I'm very certain they've abandoned their conventional VHF Freqs)
Also, depending on what type of scanner you have, to avoid missing traffic from either agency you could program a wildcard object in for the WVSIRN Site(s) you wish to monitor or open up ID Search and simply lockout the TGs that you do not wish to monitor.

73s and hope this helps

Chad

Yes this does help. The Shinnston tower would be the closest to Mylan Park then?

Thanks for the info too!

Your welcome

Yes either the Morgantown Site or the Shinnston Site would probably be your best bet for Law Enforcement

Default Quinwood (Greenbrier) -- Construction Notification

A construction notification was submitted by SIRN to the FCC indicating that Quinwood is built out.

It may or may not already be online. Somebody in the Greenbrier area should check and see if the site is online.

Hey Mike

I'll see if I can check into this for you. From here at home I might just be on the verge of coverage to hear it but I'll do a test while mobile since I should be able to hear it from Summersville.

Default WVSP Using Motorola APX Portables

Does anyone know when the state police started using the Motorola APX portables? all of the new troopers I've seen have been using them instead of the Motorola xts radios.

Chad,

Even if you can't hear it direct, you can always run Unitrunker on a site that you think would be a neighbor of it. If it is on line, it'll show up in the peer list of a neighboring site
