Default Medicine Hat Alberta Info

Hey guys

I was wondering if there was anyone on these boards that has any info for the Medicine Hat area.

I am looking for info on the MH Fire Dept. They went digital and I would love the info I need to listen to them.

I would also like to chat with anyone in the area about scanners.

Avgas

I roadtripped into the Hat in the spring of '07 and found no digital/trunk system channels. I did get some clear analog voice transmissions on 155.25 (which IIRC is one of their licensed channels) while very close to their hall.

Do you know what kind of digital they went to, what band, and if it is trunked?

The local police are using APCO 25 as far as I know. I would guess that the fire dept is using the same. I have had a friend of mine try to find out from one of the radio guys that works for the city but he was not willing to give any info other than its digital and in the 800 mhz. This is all the info I know, I am new to digital so bare with me. Thanks, Avgas

Police
866.55000 R Main Main Dispatch Channel APCO-25
866.05000 R Secondary Secondary Channel APCO-25
867.05000 R Tac Tac APCO-25

Hmm...that would be news to me, last time I was there in the summer even the FD was still on the VHF freqs posted in the DB...but let us know of course if you find they have changed freqs and mode.

They have gone digital for sure. I have not heard anything on 159.300 for months. They switched late summer. When I find the info I will post the info for sure.

Is there a trunk data channel? Are they on non-trunked channels like Police are?

Can you get a recording of Police, even using a non-digital scanner, to post so those of us familiar with the sounds of a digital signal can try to figure it out..

The sound on my analog scanner sounds like digital noise kinda like a fax. I dont have the smarts to make a recording to post.

Sorry Jay911, I prob sound like and idiot but this digital stuff it totally new to me.

With all the traffic on this site I thought for sure there would have been someone from Medicine Hat with the fire info.
