I probably should have gotten this out sooner, but better late than never...anyway, when entering stuff for the collaboration project, please follow these guidelines..
- Add the end of your article, always enter the following: [[Category:Collaboration]]. This allows the software to generate its own indexing for this article
- Be careful about how you name your county pages. The standard - not built by me, by the way - seems to be the county name with the state name in parenthesis. So it would be, for example Anne Arundel County (MD)
- If you don't have any data to migrate for your county, you aren't under any obligation to add an 'empty page' for that county. Save yourself some work (there's plenty to go around, believe me). Create only the pages you need to get the job done.
- It's very important that any pages you create are connected (linked) to the state or province that it describes. In other words, if you create an article for a county in Illinois, go to the collaboration gateway, select Illinois, and see where that article can be linked. Many states and provinces have a 'list of counties' somewhere where the title can be added. The reasoning is simple; while the database does indeed point to your new article, folks coming in from the wiki won't be able to find it without much digging. Keep in mind there are at least 2 paths that can be used to get to your data. If you know of an article that currently exists in the wiki that can serve your purpose, don't hesitate to link to it.
The gateway can be found by pointing to
WIKI in the blue toolbar and selecting
COLLABORATION
Thanks for your continued support on this very difficult project 73 Mike
[edit] DUH (senior moment here) - I didn't explain the correct procedure for linking an article. Any article can be linked to any other within the RR wiki by creating what is known in the parlence as an
Interwiki link. This is simply the title of the desired article surrounded by 2 square brackets. Keep in mind that spelling, punctuation and caps all count - so while this would be found...
[[Fire Tone Out]]
This would not. The Mediawiki software flags all such links in red...

No URL is required. Mediawiki will locate the article and do the rest for you.
