Default Collaboration progress

I thought I'd jot down a quick note to let the membership know where we are in the process of moving the non-downloadable database items into the wiki...

As of this date, we have 21 states/commonwealths done, and 2 Canadian provinces. The US States still need their trunk systems swept to see if there are any leftover links there (there's 2 in Arizona I know of...) so it's not quite as far done as it seems, but it's still a considerable accomplishment.

The states completed so far; Alaska, Arizona, California, Delaware, DC, Hawai'i, Idaho, Maine, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, NJ, Oregon, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Utah, Virgin Islands, Washington (state), West Virginia, Wisconsin

Ontario and Nova Scotia in Canada also appear done.

We could use lots of help for the remaining states/provinces. Work and family issues are slowing me down a lot lately; however there are several ways to help, even if you don't feel comfortable (or have the time) doing an entire state;
  • If you are willing to tackle learning a little of the wiki markup, just do one or two counties. There's no rule that says you have to do it all! Even this is helpful
  • Scan the trunk systems in each of the state(s) that I've mentioned to see if there are any leftover links that need moving.
  • if you scan a state or province, and know there's nothing there to move, please send me an email or RR mail to let me know so I can remove it from the list of things to be done.

If you are unsure of how to go about this, please don't hesitate to email me or use the RR mail. I admit that it's a pretty time-consuming task, but once done, those items in the database that are moved can be maintained by the users, and not require an admin to be the only one(s) doing the work. 73 Mike

Things you can't download directly into your scanner using a program that connects to the RR web service.

What you would see in the "Files" section in the DB for a state, county, or TRS. Ambulance codes, station #s, unit IDs, PDF documents, etc.

Mike
I just searched the database and there is no "Files" section.
On my Yahoo groups the Files section is clearly shown in the list of features on the left side of every page.
Check it out here: PRO-160-162 : PRO-160-162 scanner help

There's a link to the files section on the left side of sections in the database that have files.

Edit:

Here's an example.

Thanks. I think ALL the database pages should have ALL those references whether there is anything in them or not.
But I posed that question to the original poster, Ka3jjz. Then someone called "mintor" or something answered. Then I posed a question to him and YOU answered. I think people should be responsible to answer questions resulting from what THEY post. I'm willing to wait for the original poster to reply.
But I do appreciate your correct answer. Thanks.

Dick, those database pages that have had all of their file(s) moved will not have a 'files' link. That's just the software that is evidently doing this.

I'll remember in the future that you aren't interested in getting correct answers quickly. There is a button on your browser that lets you leave if the wrong people are responding to your demands for information, though. (Was that out of turn?)

By way of explanation, see the attached text file. This contains links for TRS entries that have 'related links' or similar at the bottom of the page. This will make clear what needs to be migrated.
