Default Help moving data to the wiki

Currently I have 4 states inventoried; Florida, Indiana, Iowa and Kansas. What is needed here is to go to each entity listed (I have them in a simple text file), and move any link (that's still good - there's a bunch of old links that are dead and should not be moved) and file found there to the wiki. In addition, a ticket would need to be created to send to the DBA to drop the file/links from the database.

Of the 4, Florida is the worst. Just about every county and most of the trunk systems have something that needs to be cleaned up. I found a dead link in several entities there, and have sent a ticket for that (it's done), but that only makes a small dent.

Make no mistake, this is a very time consuming task. If you would like to help out, have the time, and have some basic knowledge of editing in the wiki, please email me at ka3jjz at netscape dot com

73 and thanks...Mike

As a follow up - I am also considering setting up a second person to oversee inventoring the database. Specifically, this person would be responsible for obtaining an inventory of all state agency listings, for every state and Canadian province, that have files and/or links that would need to be transferred to the wiki. In addition, this person would be responsible for identifying those states whose agency names overlap - for example, listing all the states that have an agency called 'Department of Natural Resources'. This would require the eventual construction of disambiguation pages, so all the states with common agency names could have a place to index their article.

This person would not necessarily need to be fluent in the wiki markup language, and would be free to build this listing in any manner s/he sees fit. This is very much an analytical position, and is a critical step in planning the second pass through the database, once pass 1 is complete. This will be a very time-consuming project, and one that demands a strict attention to details.
